“This is an important event for Russia because we haven’t launched vehicles into deep space since 1988, or rather we did, but we failed. The purpose of this flight is to improve the technology of landing small stations on the moon. At the same time, Luna-9 made the first soft landing in 1966. These technologies are now lost and they want to restore them, ”explained Moiseev.
Regarding what was done during the Soviet era, he added that this was not a breakthrough, but a step backwards. At the same time, according to him, if we take into account Russia since 1991, this is a serious leap.
