Bundeswehr employee detained in Germany for spying on behalf of Russia

A German citizen working in the Bundeswehr structure was detained on suspicion of spying for Russia. It has been reported TASS With reference to the German Attorney General’s Office.

It was recorded that the detention took place in the city of Koblenz in the Rhineland-Palatinate state in western Germany.

An arrest warrant was issued on July 27, 2023, and on August 9, law enforcement detained the man and searched his home and workplace.

It was stated that the suspect named Thomas H. was an employee of the Bundeswehr Federal Office of Armaments, Information Technologies and Applications.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the man repeatedly approached the Russian diplomatic mission with an offer of cooperation, and once he gave the knowledge that he acquired during his professional activities.

The man was placed in a pre-trial detention centre.
