Apples contain polyphenols: anthocyanins, quercetin, catechins. When we cut a fruit, it comes into contact with oxygen. The enzymes start to act and the apple turns black, ”explained Solomatina.

A nutritionist recommends pouring lemon juice over the fruit or sprinkling sugar on it to slow down the oxidation process of the apple.
