Kuban State Agrarian University has developed a feed additive GlynMol that promotes the maturation of sturgeon fish and improves the quality of black caviar. informs “Russian newspaper”.
Top dressing will help increase the production of black caviar by one and a half times and, as a result, reduce the price of an expensive product.
Sturgeon farming for black caviar is reported to be a costly and labor-intensive production. At the same time, up to 70% of all feed is imported, after the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, it became even more difficult to deal with fish production.
According to the developers, the new fish food is similar to cat food. It has no analogues in the world market. The use of additives will positively affect the diameter and density of the caviar, improving its taste. Delivery of the first batch of cured caviar from valuable producers such as Beluga and other sturgeon is scheduled for early next year.
“It usually takes up to four years for a fish to recover from spawning. Our task is to reduce the time to 1-1.5 years. As a result, annual domestic black caviar production will increase at least one and a half times,” he said.
