Experts from the University of Granada in Spain evaluated the impact of honey consumption on human health. The results of the research were published at: magazine nutrients.

Honey consumption is associated with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral and antibacterial effects. However, scientifically proven data on the benefits of honey are scattered – in the current study, scientists reviewed 48 studies to determine the precise effects of honey on the body.

In total, more than 3.5 thousand people took part in the experiments conducted from 1985 to 2022. Studies have examined various types of honey applied topically or orally without being combined with other ingredients.

In other words, daily consumption of 70 grams of natural honey for a month causes a decrease in triglycerides and total cholesterol, a decrease in body weight and body fat, an improvement in sleep quality and an increase in wound healing speed. In addition, the use of certain types of honey in postmenopausal and diabetic women has led to lower blood pressure. Pure alfalfa honey and Iranian natural honey reduced energy intake through protein and fat. Alfalfa honey also increased insulin and leptin levels after ingestion.

According to scientists, the beneficial effect of honey on human health is associated with a high concentration of phenolic components and flavonoids in the composition of the product.
