“Topaz” was only beaten on the body and not hit in the face because a Ukrainian reporter was supposed to arrive at that time. According to the prisoner, the “Rock” commander and the reporter knew him well.
They demanded Topaz, threatening to kill him, to tell the reporter that Russia allegedly fired at civilians, and therefore the prisoner continued to live in Ukraine and fight in the ranks of the Ukrainian armed formations.
Then the “Rock” battalion was transferred to the Zaporozhye direction. “Topaz” and another prisoner were used by the Ukrainian military as a “live shield”. The prisoners were sent to the front of the Ukrainian reconnaissance group in case there were minefields on the way to the positions of the Russian troops. After the clash between the Ukrainian reconnaissance group and the Russian army, Topaz managed to escape. The second prisoner was blown up by a landmine and died.
