Experts from the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology have found that the IVF (in vitro fertilization) procedure is more successful if egg collection is done in the summer rather than in the fall. Results of the study published In the journal Human Reproduction.

As part of the study, the authors analyzed the results of all frozen embryo transfers performed at a Perth clinic over an eight-year period, from January 2013 to December 2021.

As it turned out, the birth rate when collecting eggs in the fall was 26 per 100 people, and 31 per 100 people if collected in the summer. If sampling was done in winter or spring, differences in fertility rates were not statistically significant. In addition, the researchers found that women whose eggs were collected on days with the most sunlight had a 28% higher chance of a live birth.

Experts noted that there are seasonal fluctuations in the natural birth rate, but such a relationship between the seasons and IVF has not been established before. The opening will help increase the efficiency of the procedure.

Formerly academics at University College London to solveshows that about 20% of women can get pregnant naturally after having a baby through IVF.
