Kirill Budanov, Head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in an interview with a British newspaper Times He noted that the risk of an artificial man-made disaster at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP) has decreased.

“Now the danger of an artificial man-made disaster is slowly decreasing,” he said.

Budanov noted that certain measures are currently being taken in the ZNPP area, “both public and non-public”.

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in June refuted Budanov’s words about the alleged mining of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, including the cooling pool. The IAEA chief also noted that “although the presence of any explosive device does not meet safety standards”, “the main safety functions of the facility will not be significantly affected”.
