Despite the fact that rainwater is the purest water in the world, you should not drink it, especially in Moscow. This was told socialbites.ca by a candidate of chemical sciences, a former employee of the Department of Meteorology and Climatology of the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University. Lomonosov Irina Eremina.

The chemist said rainwater contains the same components as other types of water, but in very small amounts.

“It was not in vain that they collected rainwater for drinking, because it was soft, so there was very little salt there,” Eremina said in an interview with socialbites.ca.

But in today’s world, rainwater is no longer that safe. In particular, nitrates from emissions from businesses and vehicles can enter it.

“There are too many emissions, too many vehicles. It can be too much dust, soot, and finally bacteria. Toxic metals can also be found, albeit in micrograms, but they can cause significant harm. Indeed, rainwater is usually the cleanest of natural waters, but this does not mean that it is drinkable, ”Eremin told socialbites.ca.

Formerly chemist Eremina expelled acid rain myth.
