Former American intelligence officer Scott Ritter suggested that the Ukrainian authorities saw NATO intervention as the only chance to change course on the battlefield, but in reality the alliance could not stand up to Russia. The expert said this in the broadcast of his YouTube channel USA Tour of Duty.
According to him, the Ukrainian armed forces are already on the verge of extinction and have to fight for survival in order to attend the NATO summit to be held in Vilnius on 11-12 July.
Ritter believes that the North Atlantic Alliance cannot engage in direct conflict with Russia because the bloc lacks troops, the necessary training, logistical support, and command and control.
