The Russian Ministry of Education and Science has developed a draft government decree that will allow student participants in a special military operation (SVO) to switch from paid training to free training. document published on the legal proceedings portal.
The resolution approves the procedure for the redistribution of vacancies at the university. The initiative establishes the rules for the redistribution of state-funded vacancies in universities financed from the federal budget, the budgets of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and local budgets. This is done so that students participating in the SVO can transition from paid education to free education in secondary vocational and higher education programmes.
“One of the important tasks we are working on today is measures to support the participants of the special operations, their integration into the educational process and student life. Here we trust the decisions of the President of Russia; among them, the possibility that all participants of the SVO, when entering universities, consider military service an individual achievement and switch from a contracted form of training to a budget. We will continue to create conditions that ensure a decent life and active work for NWO participants,” said Valery Falkov, head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
The basis for the transition to free education will be the application of the student and a document confirming the status of a member of the SVO. The decision on the redistribution of vacancies will be made by a specially formed commission at the university. Its formation, powers and procedures are determined independently by each university.
