Countries with a low quality of life will have a higher risk of computer addiction. This was told socialbites.ca by a psychiatrist at the Human Brain Institute. Bekhtereva Vadim Gagin.

According to the psychiatrist, there is a study that evaluated the prevalence of gambling in 31 countries in seven regions of the world. A meta-analysis showed that the global prevalence of gambling addiction among people with a computer and constant internet access was 6.0%.

“The highest prevalence was seen in the Middle East with 10.9%, and the lowest in Northern and Western Europe with 2.6%. Because people in these countries are more comfortable in virtual life than in real life. In a computer game, such a person can achieve success, become more fulfilled, realize his dreams, ”explained Gagin socialbites.ca.

Gagin also noted that there are studies in the Asian region where the frequency of gambling has reached 25 percent. At the same time, the data obtained may become out of date and the prevalence of gambling may increase with the development of the internet. Also, the study did not consider the African region.
