Lack of social life and poor academic performance may be symptoms of gambling addiction. This was told socialbites.ca by a psychiatrist at the Human Brain Institute. Bekhtereva Vadim Gagin.
The psychiatrist explained that most often in young men, addiction develops when the personality is not yet formed. Often it is not the gamblers themselves but their relatives who seek help. At the same time, they complain that the young person spends all day in front of the computer, avoids school and almost does not have a social life.
The psychiatrist told the picture of gambling addiction in an interview with socialbites.ca: “It began in adolescence, school performance decreased, past interests disappeared, there were fewer friends, they either disappeared, or only those with whom a person communicated remained.” .
The doctor noted that there is a fine line between gambling and gambling: A person can control gambling, but not addiction.
“When a person ceases to control himself, he loses criticism of his situation. Therefore, addiction can be noticed by one of the relatives or close people. The actor himself will not notice this, ”Gagin concluded.
