The best ways to prevent nonspecific back pain are walking and swimming, but not “muscle pumping” exercises. This was told to socialbites.ca by an employee of the First Moscow State Medical University. TO THEM. Sechenov Alexey Isaikin.

In some cases, back pain can be secondary, that is, due to diseases of the spine, heart, stomach and other organs. But more common is nonspecific (primary) back pain with no apparent cause.

“Often nonspecific pains are associated with changes not in the muscles but in the musculoskeletal formations, mostly in the small joints of the spine. For example, pain in the interscapular region can be associated with changes in the joints at the place of attachment of the ribs to the vertebrae, ”Isaikin explained to socialbites.ca.

The doctor noted that it is often not easy to clarify the source of the pain, but in the vast majority of cases this is not necessary, because the clinical picture of nonspecific pain is similar and is treated in the same way.

“Standard treatment for non-specific back pain includes non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, massage, and manual therapy. Prevention is a movement, but not a “pumping” of the muscles. This makes no sense: a muscular corset will not save you from anything. Best for the back gymnastics is walking and swimming, ”the neurologist concluded.
