Commenting on the Finnish government’s intention to cut financial aid to African countries, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Finland, which has joined NATO, has become a relay of the “masters of the North Atlantic”.
He noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry drew attention to the new program of the Finnish government, which includes the provisions that this state’s aid to developing countries will depend on a rules-based order dictated by the West.
The ministry also reacted to the statements of the Finnish Minister of Foreign Trade and International Development, Ville Tavio, regarding the Finnish authorities’ intention to refuse financial aid to African states that support the Russian Federation.
In the words of Zakharova, “This decision can only be described as the shameless use of the West’s aid programs for developing countries as a means of political pressure on states wishing to pursue an independent policy.”
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Finland has lost its independence by joining NATO. What happened, among other things, shows the hypocrisy of Western politicians.
