A human anthrax case detected in the Republic of Tyva

A resident of the Republic of Tyva was diagnosed with an anthrax infection, the patient was hospitalized. This was reported by the Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Republic of Tyva.

Specialists of the Rospotrebnadzor Department immediately launched an epidemiological investigation and a set of necessary anti-epidemic measures. Persons in contact with the patient were identified. Disinfection work was carried out at the place where the citizen resides. The status is under the control of the Service.

The Irkutsk and Stavropol anti-plague institutes of Rospotrebnadzor took part in the organization of anti-epidemic measures.

Rospotrebnadzor reminds: anthrax is not transmitted from person to person. Infection is possible through direct contact with sick animals, when the microbe enters the microtrauma of the skin and with the use of insufficiently heat-treated meat products.

To eliminate the risk of infection, Rospotrebnadzor recommends avoiding the purchase of meat products and animal skins from hands and in unauthorized trades.
