By contract type, temporary workers’ salaries increased by 3% in 2021 compared to 1.9% increase among permanent workers, while by shift type, full-time workers’ salaries increased by 2.2% and part-time workers by 1.6%.

Analyzing labor prices by occupation, factory and machine operators and assemblers experienced the lowest salary increasesFood services and military occupations followed with an increase of 0.6% (+1.2%).

By age, salary increased in all age groups in 2021. The greatest increase occurred in the 25 to 34 age group (+2.4%)The 35-44 age group (+2.3%) and the 45-54 age group (+2.2%) followed. The most moderate increase was recorded in those under 25 years of age (+1.1%).

By nationality, the IPT reflects a 2% increase in wages for Spanish nationals; this is almost half (+3.5%) of the wages recorded by foreign workers.

Salaries increased in all communities

In 2021, all autonomous communities, mainly Castilla-La Mancha (+3.5%), Extremadura (+3.1%), and the Canary Islands and Aragon, both with increases of 2.6% compared to 2020 increased wages.

The most moderate salary increases occurred in Murcia (+0.5%) or in La Rioja, Navarra, Galicia, Catalonia and Asturias, all with 1.5% increases.
