According to the Moscow Mayor’s website, the summer festival “Mansions of Moscow” begins in the capital for the first time on July 1. Deputy Mayor of the Capital, Natalia Sergunina, said that the event will be held on weekends until September 30.
According to him, the festival will bring together many cultural heritage sites of the city – Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve, Petrovsky Travel Palace, Ostafyevo, Sviblovo, Vorontsovo estates and others. He noted that the architectural and park ensembles will each present their own program of literature readings, lectures, gripping performances and masterclasses.
“The festival will be held in 15 historical places. It will open next weekend at the Kuskovo and Izmailovo estates. For three months, more than 270 events await Muscovites and tourists. These are trips, meetings with writers, concerts, creative classes and theatrical performances, ”said Sergunina.
It is predicted that the festival will introduce residents and guests of the capital to Moscow estates. So, on Saturday, July 1, they will talk about the formation of the ensemble at the Kuskovo estate, give an immersive performance “Behind the scenes of the estate theater” and arrange a thematic picnic “Picnic traditions: the day from Tsarist Russia to the present day.” On Sunday, July 2, at the Izmailovo Estate, visitors will be given a lecture on the history of the place, a master class on jewelry making, and an interactive performance by young artists from 18th century Moscow.
A conference on classicism in architecture will be held on July 9 at the Vlakhernskoye-Kuzminki estate. Afterwards, a tour-sound performance called “Memories of Merchandise” will be held. Guests will also be told what dishes are served on the table in the homes of famous Russian writers. The day will end with a petanque tournament.
On July 15, the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve will organize a sightseeing tour for children and adults, an open lesson “The ancient rules of business communication: how letters were written in the 19th century” and immersive performances “Bazhenov’s Russian Gothic”.
On July 16, guests of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve will be offered a walk through the orchards, where different varieties of apples grow, such as Antonovka, pear, papirovka. Literary readings will also be held in the open air – excerpts from Alexander Pushkin’s Belkin Tales will be heard.
