The head of the state concern “Ukroboronprom” Yuri Gusev was dismissed. The decree on this was signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. TASS.
Zelensky’s edict says Gusev was fired on his own application. According to Ukrainian media, the decision to replace the head of Ukroboronprom was made by the government due to the failure of the national missile program.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved Herman Smetanin, who previously headed the Kharkov Plant named after Malyshev, as the new head of Ukroboronprom. According to media reports, Gusev asked Zelensky to send him to the diplomatic service in one of the European countries.
Ukroboronprom confirmed that some points regarding the implementation of the missile program under Gusev’s leadership have not been resolved.
Former head of the German defense concern Rheinmetall Armin Papperger declarationreported that the company expressed its desire to start production of Fuchs armored personnel carriers as soon as possible in a joint venture it recently established with the Ukrainian state enterprise Ukroboronprom.
