In Russia, the culture of sanitation, including HIV infection, has not yet been created. said “Radio 1” Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the special department for the prevention and control of AIDS of the Rospotrebnadzor Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, Vadim Pokrovsky, HIV Test Day, June 27.

The academician noted that it is worth passing the test, for example, before marriage.

“People should use condoms if they’re planning sex, and they should both get HIV tested if they want to get married. Even if someone has a positive result, it does not mean that marriage is not necessary. Now you can start treatment, and then your partner will not be infected and the child will be born healthy, ”said Pokrovsky.

According to him, if a person has a sexual partner and does not have a drug addiction, it is not possible to get tested for HIV every year. However, if there are risks of infection, Pokrovsky recommends testing for HIV once or twice. He also pointed out that in this situation it is important to lead a healthy lifestyle to avoid repeated risks.

The expert also pointed out that a few years ago, drug addicts were more likely to become infected with HIV, but now there are those who do not use contraception during sexual intercourse. He emphasized that people with a single partner may also be at risk if they have used drugs or had multiple sexual contacts before.

Data from a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for Public Opinion (VTsIOM) in mid-May showedWhile only 41% of Russians are aware of the immunodeficiency virus (HIV), 54% of respondents have heard of it and 5% know nothing about the virus.
