Two Su-27 fighter jets of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were put on alert due to three air targets approaching the Russian border. reported Press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

In order to detect air targets and not violate the state border, two Su-27 fighter jets serving from the air defense forces were lifted into the air. The Defense Department said the targets were an RC-135 electronic reconnaissance and electronic warfare aircraft and two RAF Typhoon multi-purpose fighter jets.

As soon as the Russian fighters approached the foreign planes, they made a U-turn away from the Russian border. Russian planes returned to base airfields.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that Russia is not a violation of the state border and that the flight of fighters of the Russian Armed Forces is carried out in strict accordance with international rules on the use of airspace over neutral waters.
