A large family with four children died in a fire in a private house in Tatarstan. In this respect informs Portal “Tatar-Information”.
According to the statement made by the Ministry of Emergencies, the first information about the fire in a house in the village of Saitovo in the Tukaevsky district of the republic was received at 13.17 on Sunday. The fire spread to a log house that spanned an area of about 100 square meters. An hour later, the fire was extinguished by 43 firefighters, with emergency services reporting casualties from the very beginning.
An hour later, emergency services reported that three dead bodies were found under the rubble of the house. The district attorney’s office began to investigate the case.
At 4 pm it became clear that there were more victims – first six, then seven were reported dead. Four of them are children born in 2016-2019.
It turned out that a large family of eight lived in the house, police said the family was dysfunctional. The 28-year-old mother managed to get out of the burning house. The rest of the relatives died.
A video released by the Ministry of Emergencies shows that the house was almost completely burned, leaving only the burned walls.
The press service of the Ministry of Emergencies of Tatarstan said that in 2021 the house is equipped with autonomous smoke detectors. In November 2022 the batteries were replaced and tested in February 2023, which showed that the devices are in good condition. Such smoke detectors are installed free of charge and error-free in all houses and apartments where large families live.
According to Tatar-Inform, it was the surviving mother who told the arriving firefighters that there were three adults and four children at home who were caught in flames. The adults who died were the woman’s 55-year-old mother, brother and husband. And their four children, ages three to seven.
Neighbors told reporters that the surviving woman’s brother had returned home from the night shift on the morning of June 18. According to eyewitnesses, the family was dysfunctional, adults had problems with alcohol. At the same time, they maintained normal relations with their neighbors. The deceased brother and husband of a 28-year-old woman were working.
On Sunday evening, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan announced that it has opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence). Investigators, together with the prosecutor’s office, are investigating the cause of the tragedy, and also assessing compliance with the requirements of fire safety legislation and the work of the guardianship authorities.
