Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko pardoned Russian Sofia Sapega, the news agency reported. BelTA.

It was noted that Oleg Kozhemyako, the governor of Russia’s Primorsky Region, who came to Belarus at the head of the regional delegation, was one of the first to meet with Sapega. Sapieha’s defense at court hearings stated that the girl’s last place of residence in Russia was Russky Island, so the issue should be decided by the court in Vladivostok, not Moscow.

“We have a whole life ahead of us. He’s conscious, normal,” Kozhemyako said.

Sapega said that he had no food problems in the colony and that his plans were to get well first. In a phone call with her father, she realized that her story was almost over.

In May, the pardoned Roman Protasevich testified against his ex-girlfriend Sofia Sapieha.

Sapega was detained with Protasevich when a Ryanair plane flying over Belarus was forcefully landed in Minsk in May 2021. He was accused of running the Telegram channel, which illegally broadcasts the personal data of Belarusian security forces and their families.
