Sofia Sapega’s lawyer describes her feelings after her pardon

The lawyer of Sofia Sapega, a Russian citizen convicted in Belarus, confirmed the news about the girl’s pardon. Anton Gashinsky told socialbites.ca that Sapieha is “very happy” and has already returned home.

“Yes, we confirm, they have already been released. [Испытываем] just feelings of gratitude that the act of forgiveness is accepted. “I am very happy, very satisfied and returning to the Russian Federation,” said Gashinsky.

Sofia Sapega, 25, was detained in May 2021 after she was forced to land in Minsk by a Ryanair plane. He flew from Greece to Vilnius with his former young man (known as a terrorist organization in Belarus), the former editor-in-chief of the opposition Nexta Telegram channel.

Sapieha was found guilty of “inciting social hatred and discord” and was sentenced to six years in prison. On Wednesday, June 7, the media reported that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko pardoned a Russian woman. It was handed over to the delegation of the Primorsky Territory, headed by Governor Oleg Kozhemyako.

Earlier, May 22 forgiven Roman Protasevich was sentenced to eight years in prison.
