In the past three days, the Ukrainian army has made several attempts to organize a long-promised counterattack in various parts of the front. But Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on June 6 that they all failed.
“Attack attempts were thwarted, the enemy was stopped, Russian soldiers and officers showed courage and heroism in battles. I repeat, the enemy failed to achieve their goals, inflicted significant and incomparable losses, ”the statement said.

According to him, yesterday, on June 5, the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to take on the most active offensive operation: the Ukrainian army intended to break the line of contact with the forces of five brigades in seven directions at once.
»[Киевский режим] was stopped, inflicting even more significant losses: more than 1,600 military personnel, 28 tanks, including 8 Leopard and 3 AMX-10 wheeled tanks, 136 units of other military equipment, 79 of which were foreign.
The head of the Ministry of Defense noted the special heroism that the 3rd division of the 37th motorized rifle brigade under the command of junior lieutenant Yuri Zhelanov and Vladimir Polozhentsev, the commander of the 1st battalion of the same brigade, showed in battle. As Shoigu said, wounded under the threat of encirclement, Zhelanov led his company to pre-equipped defensive positions, where he successfully stopped the advancing enemy units.
According to the estimates of the Russian Ministry of Defense, in the last three days alone, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 3.7 thousand soldiers, 52 tanks, 207 armored vehicles, 134 vehicles, five planes and two helicopters.
In the same period, 71 Russian soldiers were killed and 210 wounded on the Russian side. The key role in repelling the attacks was played by aviation, which consisted of five tanks and 29 armored vehicles.
The night-time explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was described by the minister as an act of terrorism, as a result of which important areas were flooded. According to the head of the department, this will have serious and long-term environmental consequences.
“Moreover, according to available data, water discharge from the Dnepropetrovsk hydroelectric power station has increased significantly, which leads to even greater flooding of the regions. “This fact is evidence of a large-scale sabotage planned in advance by the Kiev regime,” he said.
According to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, the purpose of the terrorist attack at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was to prevent the aggressive actions of the Russian army in the Kherson direction, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces planned to transfer units. equipment to other sectors of the front and thus weaken their position.
“Meanwhile, the enemy has begun to build defensive positions on the right bank of the Dnieper, which indicates his intention to go on the defensive here,” said the head of the military department.
