According to Sharma, the accident occurred because several cars of a passenger train derailed. As a result, three trains collided, the victims of which were more than 280 people.

“Two passenger trains were actively involved in this accident, the third train, a stationary freight train, was also involved in this accident,” Sharma said.

He added that the passenger express derailed for an unknown reason and hit a freight train traveling on parallel lines. After a while, an oncoming passenger train collided with the derailed wagons. According to eyewitnesses, several minutes passed between clashes.
