Funeral home owner admits to stealing bodies in the US

A funeral director in southern Indiana, where 31 rotting bodies and the remains of 17 others were found, pleaded guilty to more than 40 burglaries. It has been reported Associated press (AP).

According to the agency, Andy Lanford has a funeral home in Jeffersonville. The court found him guilty as Lanford admitted the bodies of the dead, but failed to perform burial duties.

It was noted that in July 2022, the district coroner reported a strong odor coming from the funeral home. The bodies of the dead, decomposed to varying degrees, were found in the room. Some have been there since March.

Lanford was sentenced to 12 years in prison – 4 years in prison and 8 years under house arrest. The man was released under house arrest after his deposition. The next meeting will be held on June 23.
