Researchers at the University of Stirling in Scotland found that in dating practices, people tend to prefer potential partners with similar levels of agreeableness, conscientiousness and extroversion. The results of the research were published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.
The online study included 205 women and 178 men who used dating apps. 100 profiles with random face pictures and personal descriptions were shown. Researchers have found that people tend to prefer potential partners with similar levels of agreeableness, organization, and extraversion.
Also, volunteers were more likely to choose profiles they encountered as pleasant, emotionally stable, and more introverted.
The results of the study may mean that people tend to classify mating, meaning they choose mates similar to themselves. Previously, some studies have shown that people in a couple are often similar in terms of their Big Five personality traits: extroversion, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism.
