Gynecologists at New H Medical, a private clinic in New York, measured blood flow and clitoral size after using a variety of sex toys. The results of the research have been published magazine sexologies.
Sex toys can be used therapeutically to treat sexual dysfunction caused by decreased clitoral sensitivity in women due to inadequate blood flow. Despite their widespread use and the link established by many studies with enhanced sexual well-being, their effects on the clitoris have not been investigated before, according to the study’s authors.
“We tried to evaluate changes in blood flow and clitoral size in response to stimulation with various sexual devices. To do this, we performed ultrasound of the volunteer’s organ before and after stimulation with a vaginal vibrator, clitoral or wand vibrator, and vacuum vibrator,” he said.
The results showed that stimulation of the clitoris with a clitoral vibrator caused the greatest increase in blood flow to the organ compared to internal and vacuum stimulation. This increases its sensitivity.
“Our results showed that different methods of stimulation were associated with blood flow to different parts of the clitoris, resulting in changes in the clitoris area and its erection. This is further evidence that female orgasms are of various types. In addition, the results show sex as treatment options for female sexual dysfunction. It can give an idea about the use of toys,” he said.
