DPR Minister: It may take several years for agricultural land to be cleared of mines

In the DPR, it can take more than a year for farmland to be cleared of mines. This was expressed by the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Agri-Industrial Policy and Food of the Republic Artem Kramarenko, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the Minister, the main condition for the current mine clearance plan is the use of tractors directly behind the receivers. With their help, the cleared land is plowed and cultivated. Thanks to this, more than 100 hectares of land in the republic are cleared of mines per week.

Kramarenko said that an application package was created for more than 40 thousand hectares of land, and explanations were made for 22 thousand hectares. Last week, 135 hectares of mines were cleared, 233 hectares of land are planned to be cleared next week.

The Minister stressed that the demining process is very long, so it will take a significant amount of time.

Earlier, the deputy head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said that in Artemovsk, which was liberated from Ukrainian troops, the preliminary demining of the city began.
