The landscape in the Belgorod region does not allow law enforcement to quickly “clear” the area from the Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG). About this newspaper “Vzglyad” reported Aleksey Filatov, Chairman of the Officers’ Union of the Alpha Group, retired FSB lieutenant colonel.

“The situation in the Belgorod region is complicated by the landscape. Forests allow the enemy to hide, so it takes a long time to search for them. We are also faced with the task of destroying the saboteurs as well as protecting the personnel,” he said.

According to him, this sabotage pursues moral and psychological purposes rather than political or military. He believes that the Ukrainian side is trying to influence the civilian population in this way.

“Our main task is to neutralize the threat, to protect our territory. We do not aim to save the life of the enemy who has invaded our lands. Someone may be liquidated, others may be captured or forced to leave the state border,” the expert added.
