Loneliness primarily affects puppies and young dogs, said President of the Russian Cynological Federation Vladimir Golubev at a meeting with RIAMO. According to him, an adult and healthy dog that is not deprived of attention can safely be alone, but there are times when the pet is nervous.

“Dogs are social creatures, they need to be with someone. Separation and loneliness can seriously affect the behavior of the animal. Of course, a trained, physically and psychologically healthy dog can be left alone without much stress. But there are situations when the dog is nervous, lonely. In this case, you should carefully examine the animal and correct such behavior,” he said.

The expert recommended that he leave the animal for a short time to teach the dog not to be nervous when alone. At first 5-10 minutes will be enough, then it is necessary to increase the interval to one to two hours. Golubev noted that the pet will gradually get used to waiting, this will not worry him.
