The “Leader” of the Special Risk Rescue Operations Center of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia died while performing mine clearance work on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). This was reported by the press service of the department. telegraph channel.
The publication says that Senior Lieutenant Ilya Globa, 29, and Lieutenant Oleg Sergeenko, 26, then worked to clear the area of explosive objects, to restore power lines. It was noted that the men had extensive experience and made multiple trips to the DPR and LPR to perform mine clearance duties. On account of Globa – more than 3.5 thousand defused explosive objects, Sergienko – more than 2 thousand.
“On behalf of the entire staff of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, I offer my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the saviors who died heroically,” said the Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov.
He also promised to provide all necessary support to the families of the victims.
In May last year, while cleaning the waters of the port of Mariupol, four sailors from Novorossiysk under the command of Captain 2nd Rank Alexander Bobrov were killed. A memorial plaque was unveiled at the port in memory of those who lost their lives in July. Oleg Morgun, Mayor of Mariupol presented naming the street in honor of the officer who died while clearing the mines of the port.
