US Federal Judge Resists Panel Calls, Refuses to Resign Spiegel.
Pauline Newman was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. She has since been a member of the United States Federal Court of Appeals she. Currently, Newman remains the oldest incumbent federal judge in the United States.
The 95-year-old insists he’s still capable of doing business and being as productive as his younger counterparts. He recently filed a complaint against a panel of judges that questioned his mental abilities and asked him to step down. The judge also accused the panel of judges of disregarding the US Constitution, where only Congress has the right to remove judges from their posts.
Newman is considered an intellectual property expert.
Last Tuesday, May 16, court staff expressed concern that the judge could no longer remember how many simple things worked. For example, according to her colleagues, the woman cannot use computers and the internet. Many of Newman’s long-time acquaintances reported his receptivity, confusion, forgetfulness, restlessness, and lack of concentration.
The board recommended that the woman see a neurologist so she could officially confirm that she did not suffer from cognitive impairment. He also had to pass a series of professional tests. By May 23, Newman must decide whether he is ready to meet the conditions set for him. However, if she does not take this decision into account, she will have to pay a service fee.
