Woman detained on suspicion of abducting Pashinyan’s son was taken to hospital

Ashot Gayane Hakobyan, who was detained on suspicion of abducting the son of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, was taken to the hospital. DEA News citing Ruben Melikyan, his lawyer, head of the human rights organization “Legal Path”.

It was stated that the health condition of Hagopian, who was detained by the police for hours, deteriorated gradually. Therefore, he was taken to the medical center by ambulance accompanied by the police. According to the lawyer, dozens of supporters of the detainee gathered near the medical center.

Hakobyan’s lawyer claims that the official version of Ashot Pashinyan’s abduction is nonsense. Hagopian, a middle-aged and medium build woman, according to her, could not miss a healthy man.

Previously, the Armenian Investigative Committee accepted Statement by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan Ashot on the kidnapping attempt. Judicial action was initiated based on the statement. An investigation is ongoing to determine the details of the incident. While 4 people were detained on suspicion of attempting to kidnap Ashot Pashinyan, none of them pleaded guilty.

On May 17, pro-government Armenian media reported that members of the Sons’ Call movement tried to kidnap Ashot Pashinyan. According to them, a 23-year-old boy was put in a car, but he managed to jump out of the car. He was wounded in the leg and the kidnappers fled. People’s activists believe that Pashinyan Jr. got in the car himself at the request of Gayane Hakobyan, the mother of one of the soldiers killed in the Second Karabakh War. Human rights activists also reported that security forces had withdrawn to the Call of Sons office and detained activists.
