Cyprus police thwarted an assassination attempt on an unnamed Russian journalist, TV channel reported. Alpha.

According to the channel, the murder was ordered by a 62-year-old “man of Russian-Jewish origin” who permanently resides in Paphos.

“The execution of the contract appears to have been taken over by a 56-year-old Russian after a coordinated police operation. <…> The man was found in a hotel in Limassol where police officers handcuffed him,” he says. DEA News quote from the story.

Law enforcement also tracked down the person who organized the assassination attempt. He was detained at his home in Paphos.

During the investigation, evidence emerged of personal and financial disagreements between a 62-year-old man who orchestrated the assassination attempt and a Russian journalist.

Earlier, it was reported that at least five journalists from Ecuador received letters containing flash drives filled with explosives, the sender of which is unknown. One of them ExplodedWhen Lenin Artiede from the Ecuavisa TV channel connected him to his computer.
