Russian scientists have developed innovative cryogel implants saturated with antibiotics. Thanks to this technology, the materials are non-toxic, do not stick to tissues and do not allow uncontrolled healing of the wound. It was reported on the newspaper’s website “News”.
The publication states that their effectiveness has been proven in preclinical studies.
“Scientists note the demand for this development as an ambulance. The technology is already patented, and the rights to use these materials belong to the institute and the First Moscow State Medical University. IM Sechenov, ”says the publication.
It is noted that in the future, such technology may be in demand at remote ambulance stations.
Earlier it was known that scientists created it. Thread for suturing, which can release drugs.
The new material is derived from the connective tissue of pigs and is generally similar to conventional catgut, which can be “absorbed” in the body. However, the authors of the new development covered it with a hydrogel into which sensors, medical supplies and even cells that secrete therapeutic molecules can be placed.
