Observing the occultation of Jupiter by the Moon in Moscow on May 17 will be complicated by daylight hours and an uncomfortable position on the horizon. In this respect informs TASS referring to the Moscow Planetarium.

The astronomical phenomenon will be observed at 17:00 Moscow time in northern latitudes. Normally visible in the sky during this event, Jupiter will be completely covered by the Moon and disappear for 20 minutes. But right now it will be a bright day in Moscow and it will be extremely difficult to see the planet. Also, the Moon will be low above the horizon, which is unfavorable in urban areas.

“The observation will require a location with a good view of the western part of the sky to the horizon. It will be easy to find the moon with the help of binoculars. Nearby, a little to the left, a bright “star” will stand out – this is the planet Jupiter. Perhaps against the background of the bright daytime sky it will be possible to distinguish two moons of Jupiter: Ganymede and Callisto (below and to the right of the planet). With powerful binoculars, Jupiter can be seen as a small, slightly flattened disk, ”said the scientists.

Formerly paleontologists saidwhere live “bagels” live obama 550 million years old.
