Pentagon chief: US will provide additional military aid to Taiwan

Washington plans to provide significant new military aid to Taiwan in the near future. This was expressed by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at a hearing in the US Senate Appropriations Committee. TASS.

The Pentagon chief said he is pleased that the United States will soon provide substantial additional military assistance to Taiwan. Austin emphasized that the provision of such assistance to Taiwan is possible with the power of Congress to allocate defense funds given to US President Joe Biden in 2022.

Austin did not say what kind of weapons would be transferred to the Taiwan side.

Formerly the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) strengthen War preparations in connection with the purchase of US weapons by Taiwan. Beijing will resolutely uphold the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to a Chinese defense official.

Beijing has described the Taiwan issue as a red line that must not be crossed in Sino-American relations.
