The Court of Appeal in Kiev has arrested Roman Chervinsky, a former Ukrainian intelligence officer and deputy commander of one of the military units, who tried to organize the hijacking of a Russian military plane. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian edition “Strana.ua”.

At the end of April, the Kiev Shevchenkovsky District Court decidedThat Chervinsky should be detained for two months without the option of bail.

“The Kiev Court of Appeals refused to honor Roman Chervinsky’s defense petition and placed him in detention with no possibility of bail,” the channel writes.

The defendant’s lawyer told Strana that he planned to file a complaint with the ECtHR regarding the unlawful detention of the former soldier and that he would apply for an amendment of the restraining order against him within two weeks.

On April 24, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported delayed Chervinsky. The SBU said the attempted hijacking of a Russian plane in July 2022 resulted in a rocket attack on Kanatovo airport and the death of the Ukrainian military. As stated in the department, the operation was carried out despite the service’s explanations and without the necessary coordination. The Russian side managed to get information about the deployment of personnel of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukrainian aircraft and bombarded the airspace.
