Retired British General Richard Shirreff has suggested that Ukraine may not need a single counterattack to achieve its goals. He said this on the broadcast of the TV channel weather.
Shirreff believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) will need large-scale offensive actions that will take months or even years. According to the former general, Western countries should have been more active in providing weapons to Ukraine from the very beginning of the special operation, and the upcoming attack will require great effort.
Shirreff expressed his confidence that a series of counterattacks must be prepared, each of which will require large logistical capacity, equipment supply, personnel training and assistance from Western countries to do what needs to be done.
Dominic Waghorn, former Sky News International Affairs Editor gave an opinionThe trip of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to European countries demonstrates Kiev’s concern over the lack of weapons for the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Prior to that, the British authorities had announced that they would send hundreds of new attack aircraft with a range of more than 200 km to Kiev. The announcement of the deliveries was made following the arrival of the President of Ukraine in London.
