Yulia Vakhabova, a doctor at the European Medical Center Institute of Oncology, said that older people are more prone to developing cancer than anyone else. “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.

The doctor selected the five groups of people with the highest cancer risk. According to the doctor, immunity weakens with age, so after 50 years you need to closely monitor your health and undergo regular medical examinations.
The doctor made a recommendation: “It is recommended that all women have annual mammograms – colonoscopy, gastroscopy, chest CT, etc. – for both sexes.”

The second risk group is smokers. These people are seven times more likely to develop lung cancer than non-smokers. The doctor added that tobacco smoke adversely affects the entire body, therefore, the risk of developing any cancerous tumors increases.

In third place are people with a genetic predisposition to developing cancer. They must undergo genetic testing for mutations that contribute to the formation of hereditary tumors.

Vakhabova divided people who have been in contact with toxic or radioactive substances into the fourth group. These are primarily workers in hazardous industries.

Rounding out the top five are people infected with human papillomavirus (HPV), Epstein-Barr virus, and hepatitis B and C.

It was previously reported that all people over the age of 45 and young people with certain rare genetic syndromes were shown a virtual colonoscopy, which is an examination of the intestine using computed tomography. In this respect “socialbites.ca” Said Suna Isakova, oncologist of the SberHealth medical online service.
