In 2023 and 2024, the years will be warmer than last year due to the change in the phase of currents in the Pacific Ocean, the temperature will rise by only 0.1 degrees, but the number of natural disasters will increase. on this subject in conversation with DEA News said climatologist Alexei Kokorin.
“The La Niña phase of ocean currents in the Pacific, which is the largest natural factor affecting climate, will be followed by an El Niño phase,” the scientist said.
According to him, the peculiarity of such a change is that in the La Niña phase, the heat from the atmosphere goes to the ocean intensively, and in the region where El Niño develops, the flow goes from the ocean to the atmosphere. Kokorin noted that such a process could begin in the second half of 2023.
“Well then – 2024 and the human impact on the climate will continue, it will get even hotter,” Kokorin said.
The scientist explained that in this case, the global temperature will increase by about 0.1 degrees.
Previously, it was known that Russia. may lose part of the region due to global warming and permafrost melting.
