Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said that in the event of an unsuccessful counterattack, support for Kiev would be stopped by countries “not very active in supporting Ukraine”. He said this at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Telegram channel “Country Politics” reported.

“There is a risk that support will decline if offensive actions are not very successful. But I don’t think that’s the general idea. Surely there are states that think about it. However, they were not very active during this whole period of support for Ukraine.

Earlier, Zelensky said he was trying to form a coalition to supply fighter jets to Ukraine. He stated that Russia had dominance in the airspace and that Ukraine wanted to overcome it, and turned to Germany for support. Scholz noted that Germany has provided 17 billion euros in financial aid to Ukraine since February 24, 2022. According to him, Germany has provided 11 billion Euros of military and humanitarian aid to Kiev since the beginning of 2023 alone.

The previous day, finance ministers and heads of central banks of the G7 countries (USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Japan) increased the amount of financial aid to Turkey after their meeting in Niigata, Japan. Ukraine $44 billion for the period from 2023 to early 2024.
