Scientists from the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (EPFL) have determined that humans are unable to communicate with aliens because Earth is in a “bubble of radio silence.” Research published Astronomy Journal.
The search for an extraterrestrial civilization is basically an attempt to record alien messages encoded in the form of radio waves. Scientists have developed a mathematical model that explains the passage of waves emitted by alien vehicles through the Milky Way.
The scientists assumed that at any given time there was at least one electromagnetic signal of technological origin in the Milky Way and that the Earth was in a “bubble” where these messages did not reach. This is quite likely given the size of the universe. If the scientists’ assumption is correct, then according to statistics, one to five messages occur in our galaxy per century.
In the most optimistic scenario, under the conditions outlined above, it may take at least 60 years before we receive a message from the aliens. In the least optimistic scenario, the waiting period could be more than two thousand years.
