Due to the high amount of sodium in mineral waters, its use can lead to bloating. The fact is that sodium is a regulator of circulating blood volume and refers to the so-called osmolar substances that can change the concentration of water in the body. Andrey Yakushev, a gastroenterologist, hepatologist and therapist at the Israeli Hadassah clinic in Skolkovo, told socialbites.ca about this.
“When sodium enters the body, it has the ability to literally “pull” all the water onto itself. Therefore, edema appears due to its large amount. At the same time, mineral water contains from 50 to 200 milligrams of sodium ions per liter, depending on the manufacturer, and this is a lot. Therefore, people with edematous syndrome of any etiology are not recommended to consume large amounts of mineral water, salt and bread, ”warned the doctor.
According to the gastroenterologist, drinking mineral water without consulting a doctor is also contraindicated for people with hypertension, chronic heart failure, kidney disease and cirrhosis of the liver. It is they who have already violated the system that regulates the volume of blood and extracellular fluid, which sodium will extremely negatively affect.
At the same time, patients with severe chronic heart failure and cirrhosis of the liver are allowed to consume two grams of sodium per day, and patients with moderate changes or arterial hypertension are allowed to consume up to five grams of sodium per day.
“Mineral water is used to restore electrolyte levels, which is especially useful for people who are clinically dehydrated or dehydrated. Such water will also not harm healthy citizens, but it is not worth abusing it, like other products, ”said hepatologist Andrey Yakushev.
Former Surgeon announcedwhether the hub is “resolvable”.
