Lithuanian Seimas deputy Agne Shirinskene, from the opposition group of the regions, criticized the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, Arvydas Anushauskas, for her low level of English. It has been reported Sputnik Lithuania.
Anusauskas gave a speech at the Atlantic Council conference during his visit to Washington. In his speech, he stated that support to Ukraine should be continued in order to strengthen the military industry. He also expressed his hope that the NATO summit to be held in Vilnius on 11-12 July will be successful. He deciphered speech and made many mistakes in the pronunciation of words.
“I now understand why legends have been circulating in the Ministry of Defense for several years, the minister trying to avoid private meetings, dinners, etc., with ministers of other countries,” Shirinskene said.
According to him, Anusauskas is “ashamed” of his English.
“I likewise understand the ‘lack of agreement’ regarding the German brigade. Who will speak English with the minister when “last month” becomes “last mouth” (English last mouth) in the parliamentarian’s mouth?
He added that the conservative group, of which Anusauskas is a member, did not notice the “ignorant heroes” and could not find the ministerial candidate who could pronounce the words correctly.
