Imagine that the reader, forced to leave his city, roots and family, arrives in a strange land. Imagine if the decision to do so had to be made in just 20 days and that you were not doing it freely, but rather that there was a strong reason forcing you to do it: fear. Maybe your life, maybe your grandchildren’s lives are in danger. OK. Now add to all that he was killed by your daughter. a serial criminal.
Is not it difficult? All this was what Dora Gisela Gutiérrez and Fabio Antonio Barrío had to live through. Parents of Lady Marcela Vargasserial killer’s second death Jorge Ignacio Palma Jacome the same monster that took the young woman’s life bald martha, whose body is still missing and that of Arliene Ramos, in addition to trying with 7 other women.
The criminal’s ‘working style’ was particularly bloody: the convicted person gave his victims large quantities of rock cocaine of great purity, either vaginally or anally, without their consent. Absorption of the drug through the mucous membranes caused fatal intoxication. So much so that in the case of Lady Marcela, coroner of the Valencian Institute of Forensic Medicine, who explained the young woman’s autopsy at the hearing, “I have never seen this amount in a deceased person.”
Lady Marcela just wanted to find a decent life for herself and her family to whom she sent money from Valencia, and she took her life at the hands of a sadist.
“An angel on the way”
After Lady Marcela’s mother was orphaned after her mother died of cancer, her family had to leave Cali, Colombia with almost nothing in their luggage, as fear settled in their lives.
In Spain, the murderer of Marta Calvo, Lady Marcela Vargas and Arliene Ramos It was widely followed by the entire community. In Colombia, the popularity of this event did not reach until last November, when the country’s most important television station, Caracol Televisión, repeated what had happened to its compatriot in Valencia.
From that moment on, fear began to grow. “We fled Colombia. Fabio Barrío wonders what connections this man may have in our country, we are afraid of that murderer. It should be noted that Palma Jacome is also Colombian and involved in drug trafficking.
The decision was made quickly: we had to leave a country where “there weren’t many options for the future” for Lady Marcela’s children, aged 6 and 9, to “have some education and a quality life in a quiet place”. It tells about the mother of the young woman who was murdered. The whole family collected the money and gave it to two tickets to Madrid, where they could only afford a pension, where they shared a room with drug addicts. “We will bring our grandchildren as soon as possible,” they say.
When Marisol BuronMarta Calvo’s mother set out when she learned through a message that Fabio and Dora had left everything they had and had come to Spain. “Knowing that Lady Marcela’s family will be arriving in a few days made me react quickly,” says Burón. The steps to follow were clear: a home, a job, and a registry that gave them access to the services and help they needed to get started.
desperately looking for a job
“Marisol is an angel we met along the way,” Barrío says of Marta’s mother. “We’re looking for jobs in all aspects,” the couple says. Despite the fact that Lady Marcela’s father has more than 20 years of experience as a salesperson, she is ready to do whatever it takes. Also his wife. For the time being, Marisol paid for the train tickets to get there from Madrid and helped them find temporary accommodation in the center of La Purísima in Alaquàs, but That shelter will be finished in a month.
“We called our friends, acquaintances and contacts dozens of times to help Fabio and Dora Gisela find a job. It’s not easy, but we don’t give up hope,” says Marisol. Burón says, “If someone could give them the opportunity to start over in this country, that would be great.”
The family of Lady Marcela, who was 26 at the time of Jorge Ignacio Palma (Ignacio Palma)159 years in prison, Although his sentence was appealed to the Supreme Court to impose a reviewable permanent prison sentence on him), Marta’s mother, accompanied by her mother, visited their lawyer for advice on the steps they should take to put their situation in order.
“This is my duty. I have to accompany them and help them in everything I can. It is my daughter’s legacy. Marta would be very proud of me for doing the same,” Marisol Burón says through tears.
Helping Fabio and Dora live again, if that’s possible when someone’s daughter was killed in such a brutal way, is the goal. Bring your grandchildren from home, too, whose farewell words to their grandparents are: “Don’t make us like the mother who left and never came back.” It’s a devastating sentence.
Degrading treatment at the Valencia Immigration Support Center
Upon arrival in Valencia, Lady Marcela’s parents visited the Immigration Support Center for guidance on possible accommodation and finally how to start a life in Valencia. But far from feeling understood and welcome, they were subjected to a devastating experience and humiliating treatment by a center worker.
When Lady Marcela’s mother, Dora Gisela, told the employee what her condition was, the reason she left Colombia, and the death of her daughter, she lamented: “This is an excuse to stay here” and according to Dora herself, “they questioned everything we told them.” In fact, the woman couldn’t hold back her tears while describing her experiences and the only answer she got was “if you don’t stop crying, we will stop the process”. Marta Calvo’s mother, Marisol Burón, was “devastated” when she saw the unconsolable couple leave center: “He has no right to treat someone like that”.
