According to preliminary data, part of the stele with the figure of a Soviet army soldier and a grieving mother was destroyed in the village of Pnikut in the Lviv region in western Ukraine. This was reported in the “General” post.

Information about this surfaced on Saturday, May 13.

It is emphasized that in 2015 the Ukrainian authorities passed a law on the dismantling of monuments in any way connected with Soviet history.

“On the territory of the Mosti community in the village of Pnikut, part of the stele with a mournful mother figure and a bas-relief image of a Soviet army soldier was dismantled,” the media added.

At the same time, there are plans to dismantle 10 more objects reminiscent of Soviet power on the territory of the ensemble. The historical sites in the region are expected to be demolished by the end of May.
