Journalist Sergey Brilev, head of the author’s program studio, told socialbites.ca that the late head of the National Association of Broadcasters, Eduar Sagalaev, was for him a bridge to journalism after the 12th Floor program.

“In general, I built a bridge to journalism after I joined the 12th Floor program of the Central Television youth programs’ editorial directorate, led by Eduard Mihailovic, it was 1988. I mean, we’ve known each other for a long time. Actually, I heard an offer after this program, the idea of doing journalism. It wasn’t from his lips, but he remembered me back then and always remembered that event. So I am really grateful to him for this bridge. Then he was the head of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Corporation, my boss, ”said the director.

Brilev added that he is also grateful to Sagalaev for helping to produce Gorbachev: Today and Then. According to him, Sagalaev acted as a tuning fork for the film, as he felt the “texture of time.”

“I am very, very, very grateful to Eduard Mikhailovich for his invaluable help in making my film about Gorbachev. I had a movie called Today and Then Gorbachev. And for this film, we recorded many people: Russian figures, the President of Nicaragua, the former head of the British Foreign Office, Mikhail Sergeyvic’s childhood friends, Mikhail Sergeyvic himself. But Eduard Mikhailovich acted as a tuning fork. He felt, like no one else, very subtly the fabric of the time and the political fabric, both journalistic and human. And in this context, it later acted as a tuning fork. Once again, I am convinced of what a thoughtful person he is. It was very strange to say. He loved life very much,” he concluded.

On May 13, journalist Eduard Sagalaev, head of the National Association of Broadcasters, died at the age of 77. OTR General Manager Vitaly Ignatenko announced that he passed away.
